Types of Colleges

Whenever you think of college, you probably just think of the giant four year colleges that are known for their partying and football teams. Well it turns out there really is a lot more to college than that. Sure those places exist, but there are many, many more options out there for nearly every kind of student. Whether you’re just a kid graduating from high school or someone going back to school after a short decade or two, there’s always going to be something for you out there.

The first option is the normal four year college. To determine whether this is for you, the first option you have to look at is financial. Often times these will cost more than community or two year colleges. If you want to save some money and then probably be accepted into a better school your junior year, then the community route is most likely for you. However, if you easily have the funds available or can finagle some scholarships from your school of choice, by all means go to the four year college.

You also have to determine whether you want to go to a public or private college. The private ones tend to be more expensive but have more high quality services than the ones mainly funded by the state. Their dining halls and classes are in better shape though it’s debatable whether the actual education is of any better standard.

The next option is online school. This is mainly the route for people who don’t have the time or means to physically attend college. While you won’t get the kind of attention or service you would by attending a normal college, you can still work full time and benefit from getting your degree on your own time. There are some normal high school grads that go this way, but really the only people you’ll meet are adults trying to either further their career or go into a new one. These schools are all business and no play.

Whether you want to go to a normal, online or community college, the decision is ultimately up to you. But really, you can’t go wrong with any of these because you will end up with your desired degree albeit in a different way.
