I am 65 and will retire next year. I have always wanted a college education. I know it is late in my life for this consideration. Now, I have the time. Now, I have the money. I am and always have been interested in a wide variety of subject areas. I just don't know what I want to learn. Is there such a thing as an "aptitude" test or an "interest" test a person may take to discover what he really wants to do? I know I surely don't want to nail my rocker to the floor and wait for the Grim Reaper. I also detest fishing, checkers, crossword puzzels, dominoes and chess. If I have to idle I want to spend it learning something. I know I probably won't go into a career at my age, but I don't have to die ignorant.
Thanks,
John Mahler

As a graduate of the Open University I can honestly say that this is a great institution, highly respected not only in the UK but throughout the world. When I was in the final stages of the interview process at Google my interviewer, an ex academic told me that he was very impressed by the course that he had taken.

Course material is fantastic and there are lots of free courses on OpenLearn, go check out some of these courses if you have any doubts.

My son was having trouble with handwriting in 3rd grade. The Occupational Therapist at his school insisted he practice practice practice cursive lettering because as she put it "it's a right of passage". What planet do ignorant people like this come from? Her ignorance became more obvious when my son was diagnosed with dysgraphia. His beautiful brain does not process handwriting tasks in the same way as most people.
