Coast Guard Tuition Assistance – A Brief Summary
Like all other branches of the United States Military, the Coast Guard offers a certain amount of tuition assistance to servicemen and women who choose to enlist in this sector. Unlike such branches as the Army and Navy, the most popular and most utilized of all military services, the Coast Guard is not a 100% inclusive program. Enlisting in the U.S. Coast Guard will not guarantee that all tuition and fees are paid by the branch, but at the same time, your commitment to the military will not be as strict or consuming as that of a serviceman in the Army or Navy.
The Coast Guard will pay for 100% of a serviceman’s base tuition, but additional fees such as lab or tech fees will not be covered. Loans, scholarships, or out-of-pocket monies will be required to pay the difference in your education bill. But it’s a fair trade, because as a member of the Coast Guard, you are not required to be an active, on-duty serviceman or woman in order to receive benefits.
